Bitters
**Cocktail bitters are the secret weapon**, not only in the home bar but in bars in general. They definitely shouldn’t be missing from your home bar!
Bitters are neutral alcohol infused with various herbs and ingredients such as bark or peels. This creates very **intense mixtures** that can enrich almost any cocktail with an extra layer of complexity using just a few drops. Some cocktails simply can’t be made without bitters. For example, an **Old Fashioned** without bitters is essentially just whisky on ice.
Cocktail bitters come in many varieties, from **orange bitters** and **Peychaud’s bitters** to **chocolate bitters**. However, probably the most well-known are **Angostura bitters**, which are recognizable by their oversized paper labels.
