Gin

Gin is a spirit based on neutral alcohol that becomes gin through the addition of so-called botanicals. The most important ingredient is **juniper**, which should also be dominant in flavor. These botanicals are either simply infused in the alcohol and then filtered, or—more typically—the mixture is distilled and the distillate is used. The seemingly endless list of botanicals now used in gin continues to expand this category with new variations.
